Wailing Heights

Wailing Heights

A coffin-rocking, body-hopping, musical adventure game, set in a horrific hamlet of monsters.

Set in a peaceful, blood-curdling village blessed with gorgeous panoramic mountaintop views and the blissful stench of rotting corpses, Wailing Heights is home to the likes of vegan werewolves, hipster vampires, soulful zombies and all manner of well-adjusted supernatural taxpaying home-owners.Story

Meet Frances Finklestein, the one-time manager of the all-time greatest rock band that Great Britain ever produced: The Deadbeats.

After being invited to a gig in a town no one’s ever heard of, Frances Finklestein is trapped in a holding cell, charged with the crime of… Being Alive! A mysterious cellmate teaches you the power of possession. You learn to “body-hop”, leaving your corpse in the holding cell and jumping from ghost to vampire to werewolf to zombie. Each creature’s skills and abilities bring you one step closer to getting your body out of lock-up and getting the hell out of Wailing Heights. But of course, it’s never that easy…

As you jump from one musical monster to another, familiar sounds and faces start up show up. The Deadbeats have returned as the undead, and they want to get the band back together.Gameplay

In the style of classic adventure games, you will need to talk to the locals, choosing just the right thing to say (and who to be), collect lyrics as you explore the town, listen to musical clues, and like all great songwriters; steal things from other songs. Add these ingredients to your musical possession wheel, and sing your soul right into a monsters’ body, gaining their supernatural abilities and moving one step closer to escaping Wailing Heights.Features

Steno Arcade

Steno Arcade

Steno Arcade is a suite of four arcade games designed to teach and drill steno and keyboarding fundamentals in an immersive, addictive, responsive, and interactive way. Steno Arcade is 100% free and open source and works with any steno machine or keyboard.

The Early Access build of Steno Arcade includes one of the four games in the suite, Steno Hero! Imagine your favorite rhythm games, but instead of pressing buttons that vaguely emulate the original instruments, you’re hitting steno chords or keyboard keys to precisely and accurately produce the lyrics to your favorite music! It’s like singing karaoke with your fingers! Steno Hero launches with four songs, with more to be added over time:

"I’m Your Moon" by Jonathan Coulton
"Mandelbrot Set" by Jonathan Coulton
"That Spells DNA" by Jonathan Coulton
"I Feel Fantastic" by Jonathan Coulton

While Steno Arcade is designed to be played with a steno machine, it can also be looked at as a traditional typing game that can be played with any standard keyboard. You only need an NKRO (N-key rollover) keyboard if you intend to learn stenography and want to play the game using steno. For example, the slower, easier songs in Steno Hero are perfectly playable using a standard keyboard, but when you get to the faster, harder songs you may find yourself having trouble keeping up with a standard keyboard and will need to use steno if you want to complete the songs with a high level of accuracy and precision.

Steno Arcade is being developed on top of the Godot open source game engine, and the source will be released under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license upon completion.

Steno Arcade is brought to you by The Open Steno Project and For All To Play.

Delete it and it will grow.

Mold an amorphous organism into any shape by pruning its cells. New cells will immediately grow, allowing you to traverse a mysterious world across brain-twisting obstacles, overcome swarms of bizarre mutated creatures, and understand the true nature of the devastation from which you emerged. The eerily beautiful visuals are complemented by the exquisite, ethereal soundtrack of British electronica legend The Future Sound of London, also available as DLC.

Audiosurf 2

Audiosurf 2

By blending gameplay with music visualization, Audiosurf puts you inside your music in a way nothing else can. Use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose.

What are the biggest improvements from Audiosurf 1?

Ever-expanding new ways to play with over 500 and counting player-created mods and skins on Workshop.. Additional layers of strategy tied to the song’s biggest moments. In-game leaderboards let you compare your score moment to moment against your friends and rivals even when they’re not online. Enhanced graphics quality. Ability to search for music (including online music). Available on Mac and Linux!

What’s new about Mono mode in Audiosurf 2?

In Audiosurf 2 your timing in mono mode is more important than ever. You’ve got to strategize to get your grid full at the most intense moments of songs to get the most points. Look ahead in the distance for corkscrew loops with powerups to know when these moments will occur.

What do I get in the demo?

The demo allows players to play any song they want, for their first 3 songs. After that, they can play the Song of the Day, everyday, as many times as they want.

Is there a mode that focuses on dodging blocks?

Yes, there’s a new Ninja mode. It has a big bonus for hitting no spikes and creates intense spike fields to weave through. It’s faster than regular Mono and the second-to-second challenge of avoiding spikes is harder. For even more challenge there’s ninja turbo. It’s too fast for you.

What’s new about the Puzzle modes in Audiosurf 2:

Just as with Mono mode, your timing on Puzzle modes is now more important than ever. Push, Shuffle, Erase, or Scoop blocks at the just the right moments to take full advantage of multiplier powerups that come at the most intense moments of songs.

Can players make their own mods and skins to share on Steam Workshop?

Yes! There’s detailed documentation on making Audiosurf 2 skins available here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=413812198

Also, every mode and skin in the games comes with the script source code and assets. Players can use any of the official modes/skins as a starting place.
